“Mount Sinai At Sunset”

Holy Ascent: Sinai at Sunset

Painted during a time of corporate worship, this piece was birthed from a sense of awe and divine nearness. The jagged peaks and fiery sky echo the holy mountain where God descended in glory and spoke to Moses. Inspired by Exodus 19:18 — “Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire…” — the work invites reflection on God’s holiness, presence, and voice.

The colors and textures capture not only a physical place, but a spiritual moment—where the soul stands barefoot before God, trembling and transformed. My husband remarked it looked like Mount Sinai at sunset, and that’s when I searched what Mount Sinai looks like at sunset, scripture, and what God was revealing.
