“Process to Purpose”

Scripture References: Revelation 21:2 · Hebrews 12:1-2 · Revelation 12:4-6

“Out of the Wilderness – The New Jerusalem” or as titled, “Process to Purpose” captures a prophetic transition—the sacred moment when what was hidden in the wilderness begins to emerge into divine fulfillment. Layers of emerald green, crimson, and white swirl together to reveal a forest giving way to heavenly light, symbolizing both process and purpose/promise.

At the base, the dark pines stand as guardians of the wilderness, representing the seasons of endurance, solitude, and refining. Rising above, the atmosphere breaks open with teal, gold, and luminous white—colors of awakening and revelation—signifying the descent of the holy city, “the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God” (Revelation 21:2).

Prophetic Meaning

This painting embodies transition, travail, and transformation. Like the woman in Revelation 12, creation groans and labors to bring forth purpose. The forest is not abandonment but preparation; the city above represents destiny realized.

The red tones speak of the blood of redemption and the intensity of birthing pains. The whites represent purity and glory descending. The greens symbolize life preserved through process. Together they illustrate the journey of the believer—emerging from wilderness trials into heavenly promise.

Hebrews 12:1-2 whispers through the brushstrokes: “Let us run with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” The painting invites viewers to stay steadfast in community and faith, protecting what God is birthing until it comes to full maturity.

Artist Reflection

“Before painting this, the Lord kept speaking to me about transition—the pain of the process, like pregnancy, and the importance of being surrounded by believers who protect your purpose from the enemy like Rev 12:4-6. As I painted, I saw a forest below and a cloud of whiteness forming above surrounding, protecting and celebrating the birthing of purpose, and I knew it represented the ‘great cloud of witnesses’ Heb 12:1-2. Later, a woman at church shared that as she watched me paint, she saw a city emerging—a vision of coming out of the wilderness into the New Jerusalem. It confirmed what I sensed: that this piece marks the crossing over from hidden refinement into revealed glory. This is the journey of purpose being born. Rev 21:2”

Revelation 12:4–6 (NIV)

Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Hebrews 12:1–2 (NIV)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Revelation 21:2 (NIV)

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
